Graduate in Art Graphic Design Admission at University of Minnesota Twin Cities Campus

Admission Requirements—Applicants must have adequate undergraduate education and experience in the area of emphasis and a B.A., B.S., or B.F.A. in graphic design or art. Individuals with undergraduate degrees in other disciplines who have completed a substantial number of design courses or who have extensive professional graphic design portfolios also may be considered for admission. A portfolio of 20 design works (Mac format CD or DVD); a letter of intent; a writing sample (written in or translated into English); and three letters of recommendation are also required as part of the application. Applicants must have a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.00.

M.F.A. Plan B Degree Requirements
The M.F.A. is offered under Plan B and requires 60 credits. The time frame for completing the coursework and research is usually 3 years for full-time students. The Graduate School requires completion of the degree in 7 years. For more information on degree requirements please see M.F.A. handbook .

Language Requirements—None.

Final Exam—An oral exam based on the project and a supporting thesis are required.

Admission for Design M F A at University Of Central Oklahoma

Admissions

Qualified graduates of accredited colleges and universities are eligible to apply for admission to the University of Central Oklahoma’s Jackson College of Graduate Studies. An applicant’s minimum undergraduate GPA must be 2.50 or higher (or 2.75 or higher in the last 60 hours completed). Overall minimum GPA requirements may vary and applicant’s must meet the requirements of their individual program. (See our Graduate Catalog for further individual program requirements).

Procedures

Prospective students must complete an application form (this may be done online or by downloading and printing the Application Form from our website), pay a non-refundable $50 application fee, supply official transcripts from all institutions attended including an official transcript from the institution where the student graduated with an undergraduate bachelor’s degree posted, and any support documents such as admission test scores, letters of recommendation, etc., which may be a specific program requirement.

While the JCGS uses a common Application for Admission to Graduate Studies (or online application), each graduate program will have its own specific admission requirements. You can find full details on the requirements for admission to graduate studies and to each program in our Graduate Catalog.

Once all the required documents are received from the student, a copy of those documents is sent to the relevant Graduate Program Advisor for his/her recommendation for admittance to the program. The student will be notified by U.S. mail and by email of the admission decision.

Conditional Admission

Selected Graduate Programs at UCO allow conditional graduate admission for those students whose undergraduate GPA does not meet the minimum required for regular admission into the program. Conditional admission is not allowed under any other criteria and is not offered by all graduate programs. You can find details on the requirements for Conditional Admission to graduate studies at UCO in the Graduate Catalog section on “Conditional Admission ” and under the requirements for each of the Graduate Degree Programs.

International Admissions

The JCGS welcomes applications from students from every country in the world. UCO enjoys the presence of approximately 1,200 students from 73 different countries.

Due to the amount of time needed to process an international application, admission application deadlines are in place and are strictly observed:
Fall semester—July 1st
Spring Semester—November 1st
Summer Semester—April 1st

Immunization Requirements

Beginning Fall semester, 2004, Oklahoma State law requires all new students who attend Oklahoma colleges and universities for the first time to provide proof of immunization for certain diseases.
