It is research, though concealed from view by the glamorous forefront of fashion collections; because even creativity needs to be nurtured. When a collection presented at a fashion show is successful, its message is easily interpreted and is in harmony with the spirit of the time.
To design a fashion collection and to be familiar with the materials is therefore no longer sufficient. A fashion designer must today seek, identify and create new styles and have an intuition of the most attractive tendencies. He/she must be able to conceive and interpret lifestyles, in harmony with the spirit of the time which changes continuously according to historical, cultural and social events.
The creativity of the fashion designer feeds in its environment but it must also be educated. It should be put in close contact with professional reality, market and production requirements, customer expectation, public image and with current and future trends.
The objective of the Design and Fashion Styling Master’s, then, is to go beyond the learning stage of “how to coordinate a fashion collection”. It indeed aims at explaining how to integrate a model, a collection and a concept within a global project starting from an initial advanced research and being in harmony with the present and future tendencies and lifestyles.
Length of studies
The Master’s certificate:
It is granted after obtaining 120 credits (over 4 semesters) beyond the Bachelor’s level (L).
The 1st year of Master’s (M1): 60 credits over 2 semesters: S1 + S2
The 2nd year of Master’s (M2): 60 credit over 2 semesters: S3 + S4
Terms of admission: access to 2nd year Master’s is open to all candidates with 60 validated credits of Master’s 1, on application screening possibly together with an interview.
