The A.A. program in graphic design prepares students who are interested in the fine arts to understand and apply learning in the field to practical situations. By becoming familiar with the use of art media within various forms of communication, students grow in their ability to give visual form to original ideas. Students develop skills in color and design, interior living environments, drawing, painting, photography, and particularly computer applications used for page layout, graphic, and photographic design. Experimentation with various media helps students determine the best layout for their creations.General Education Requirements

Architecture
All students admitted to the undergraduate architecture program first enter the Bachelor of Science in Architecture Technology (B.S.A.T.) program, and undertake a two-year common core curriculum. This curriculum includes design studios and architectural history courses, as well as liberal arts courses such as English composition, math, physics, behavioral science, economics, fine arts, and social science. After succesful completion of this program, students may:
1. Continue with the four-year B.S.A.T. program or
2. Apply for admission into the five-year B.Arch. program or
3. Opt for a B.S.A.T. with a concentration in energy management or business or
4. Undertake a combined B.S.A.T./M.S. in energy management degree
Interior Design
NYIT offers a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Interior Design, preparing students for the rewarding challenges of designing for the 21st century. The program, based on the Old Westbury campus, focues on the relationship between human performance and environement through an innovative mix of studio design projects, profession-specific coursework, community-oriented projects, and externships in the field.
Summer Abroad programs are open to both interior design and architecture students. The experience becomes an opportunity for the design and architecture students to intermingle and confront architecture and design together in the same way that it developed in other cultures through the ages.
