Master of Catholic Thought at University of St. Jeromes College Canada

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

We have designed this program to respond to the need for Catholics who provide leadership in areas such as health care, social services and education to be theologically informed about Roman Catholic life and thought.

As the Roman Catholic university in the Diocese of Hamilton, we want to provide a quality, master’s-level theological program for persons who live and work within this diocese.

News and Events

We also want to serve those Catholics and non-Catholics alike who, for personal reasons, want to pursue a deeper knowledge and appreciation of the Catholic tradition.

Since its inception in 1865 by Father Louis Funcken of the Congregation of the Resurrection, the educational institution that has become St. Jerome’s University has provided its students with a balance of liberal arts and religious instruction within the context of Roman Catholic teaching. Its role in educating both community and Church leaders was firmly established by 1960, when it became the founding college of the University of Waterloo. At that time, St. Jerome’s University entered into a Federation Agreement with the University of Waterloo. St. Jerome’s waived its degree-granting rights with only one exception: the future right to confer degrees directly in theology. It is that right which St. Jerome’s is exercising through the establishment of this Master of Catholic Thought [MCT] program.

We believe that the theological education received through this program will enrich the work that Catholics and non-Catholics are doing in their community and in their Church.

Design Major at Ringling College Of Art & Design

Saturday, February 21st, 2009

Ringling College of Art and Design is the first educational institution in the world to license Crytek’s award-winning CryENGINE 2® middleware for educational purposes. No other real-time technology compares to the CryENGINE 2® in either animation or scene-rendering quality. For more information, visit http://www.ringling.edu/NewsAndEvents.23.0.html.

On average, half of Ringling College’s Computer Animation graduates have accepted employment in the computer gaming industry. Now, Game Art & Design majors will have the option of targeting their demo reels and portfolios to this $10-billion business.

Students will explore the challenges of creating visual art for gaming audiences and develop a game-based senior thesis as an entry into the world of interactive entertainment.

The Game Art & Design major brings Ringling College’s feature film aesthetic to games. You’ll begin by studying the basics of game design – meaningful play, player interaction and options for creating and refining game content. You’ll go on to study multiple narrative, interactive narrative and character structures in relationship to gaming environments. You’ll also understand the influence of games on society and their enormous potential to educate as well as entertain. Above all, Game Art & Design is more than creating entertainment. It’s creating an experience.

The application deadline for the Computer Animation and Game Art & Design majors for Fall 2009 is Jan. 15, 2009. All other majors have rolling admissions.

Monday, February 16th, 2009

M. Tech. (Non Destructive Testing)

As Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) plays a vital role in ensuring the quality and reliability of industrial products, there is a constant demand for qualified NDT professionals in industries.

To meet this industrial demand, the Department offers M.Tech. (NDT) programme which is structured as in the Brunel University, UK. In this programme, students are taught with necessary theoretical inputs as well as with practical training in collaboration with NDT Lab and Welding Research Institute (WRI) of Bharath Heavy Electricals (BHEL), Tiruchirappalli (www.bheltry-spares.com). In this four semester programme, the first two semesters are designed for theory, practicals and field work. The third and fourth semesters are exclusively meant for carrying out project work in industries and various research institutions in the country like IISc, IGCAR, WRI , BHEL, HAL etc.

This programme is indeed a testimony for the interaction between Industry and Educational Institution. NITT enjoys the pride of offering this unique postgraduate programme in whole of the country for nearly two decades.

Recently the M.Tech (NDT) programme has been accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA) for 5 years from 2008.
