BA Hons Interior Architecture & Design at KBU International College

Tuesday, February 24th, 2009

Above are the few words that you will be exposed to if you dream of becoming an interior designer. These are the words that will guide you as you embrace yourself in becoming a good interior designer.

The programme deals with the design of internal spaces. Student will be required to consider the relationship between the architectural context and designed interior. An understanding of function is essential and students are expected to develop an understanding of human needs and how the organisation of the physical design elements including form, structure, colour and light can be articulated to create sound, useful and stimulating environments.

In designing shops, museums, courthouses, theatre sets, domestic houses and other interior disciplines, an interior designer needs to acquire an eye for visual sensitivity, both theoretically and practically. Moreover, an interior designer has the ability to control human behaviours as well as to satisfy their needs through the configuration of walls, ceilings and floors.

The programme will provide the knowledge and the learning package. Coupled with a sense of creativity and appreciation of 3-dimensional designs in interior spaces, students will soon embark on an exciting life of manipulating design principles.

Students are encouraged to participate and contribute in discussions or group tutorials. Constructive, lively and critical debates are seen as one of the main criteria that will provide essential dialogue between students and lecturers. However, one-to-one tutorial is also conducted in order to enhance the individuality of each student.
