One semester is divided into six modules: a ZHdK-wide compulsory module, two bachelor-specific modules, and three depth-specific modules. The content will be - depending on the occupancy requirements and objectives of the study - certain modules in versions. This is also the fulfillment of the most fundamental principle of the Declaration of Bologna: the option for students.

The approval for the study is done on a common admission process for all wells of the study design departments. Prerequisite for entry is to meet the general admission requirements, the quality of the dossier and the evaluation of a personal interview with the applicants for further consideration.

Welcome to the Department of Communication and Art at Northeastern State University. Our Department is proud to serve over 200 majors in the exciting disciplines of Art, Communication Studies and Mass Communication. Along with excellent classroom instruction, our award winning students have the opportunity to hone their communication skills in a variety of applied settings. The Department houses student art exhibitions, all student media including The Northeastern student newspaper, and the Forensics and Debate program.

Degree programs are offered in Fine Art, Graphic Design and Art Education. Mass Communication offers specialization in Journalism/Broadcasting, Advertising and Public Relations. Students in Communication Studies can specialize in Communication Processes and Corporate Communication. There is also a Speech Education program and a structured minor in Leadership Communication. This interdisciplinary program provides advanced preparation in the theory, practice and technology of contemporary organizational communication.

Two tracks are offered, the Communication Track is for students who wish to advance their knowledge of human communication focusing on theory in new media, intercultural and organizational contexts, as well as collaborative production work and project management.

The Design Track emphasizes computer-based digital media design production stressing graphic design, video, animation, and the use of major professional software for digital media design production.

It is expected that the graduates of this program will demonstrate the ability to:

Develop, produce and/or manage professional, artistic and commercial digital media presentations and materials.
Analyze organizational communication processes for the purposes of enhancement and problem solving.
Integrate digital media technologies into complex work environments.
