Admission Requirements
General

VCC welcomes applications from Canadian citizens, permanent residents and international students.
Exceptions Convention refugees as designated by the federal government;

Foreign live-in caregivers;

Individuals with work permits valid for at least one year, covering the duration of studies; or those with Approval in Principle letters from Citizenship and Immigration Canada;

Legal dependents of Canadian citizens or permanent residents (certain conditions apply);

Diplomats and their direct dependents;

International exchange students.

VCC will require proof of citizenship, residency, diplomatic or refugee status. Please see VCC’s policy relating to admission for non-citizens and non-residents for more information.

International students VCC welcomes international students from around the world to the college’s academic or career programs.

As Vancouver Community College is a post-secondary institution committed to educating adult learners, applicants should be 18 years of age or older or a graduate of a secondary school.

Program Specific:
In order to gain entry into the program students must have completed the Interior Design Certificate Program at VCC or have a Certificate, Diploma or Degree from another accredited institution.

All applicants will show a portfolio of current and past work at an arranged interview time.

All applicants are required to fill out a College application form. These forms are available at the Continuing Studies Office. There is a $30.00 application fee.

Admission requirements

Applicants need to
hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution;
submit all necessary forms, documentation, and fees.

Degree requirements

Students in the master’s degree program in Training and Design may either complete
33 credits which includes a 3-credit professional paper or
36 credits which includes a 3-credit colloquium.

You may take up to 9 credits on a nondegree basis. Students are strongly urged to see an academic adviser before starting the program.

Getting Started

Most students start with INSYS 415, then take, INSYS 441, EDPSY 421 or ADTED 505. A complete curriculum and course schedule is available in the blue menu at the right.

Admission is open to those with a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution. An application to the graduate certificate program and official transcripts must be submitted. Applicants must apply online. All requested materials must be submitted by the established deadline(s).

Degree Requirement in Environmental Horticulture and Design at Foothill College

Associate Degree Requirements:
• English proficiency: ENGL 1A, ESL 26 or equivalent.
• Mathematics proficiency: MATH 103/105 or equivalent.
A minimum of 90 units required to include:
• All General Education requirements
• Core courses (45 Units)
• Plant Material Specialization courses (2 Units)
• Career Focus Specialization courses (11 Units)
• Environmental horticulture Skills (4 units)
• Short Course Specialization courses (2 Units)
• Electives & other graduation requirements as appropriate.

NOTE: All courses pertaining to the major must be taken for a letter grade. In addition, all Core and Support courses for the Degree or Certificates must be completed with a letter grade of “C” or better.
Program Type(s):
AS = Associate in Science Degree.
CA = Certificate of Achievement.
SC = Skills Certificate.
Additional Information:
Partial or full general education waivers may be possible for people possessing an existing degree from an accredited institution or existing college credits.

NOTE: HORT 80 must be taken 4 times for a total of 8 units.
