Program Description of B.Des. Textile & Fashion Design at Gift University
Program Description
Textile Design component introduces students to the tradition through textile printing and weaving. Techniques, such as netting, twining, spinning, knitting, embroidery, felt making, image transfer, hand painting and hand printing on fabrics, photo and computer generated imaging, dye technology, loom weaving, and computer-aided structures are taught in this component. A strong skill-based curriculum is intended to build dexterity, sensitivity to materials, and technical competence in this multifaceted discipline.
Fashion Design component provides extensive preparation for individuals seeking industry positions in the design and production components of the fashion industry. In this component students design, develop, and construct apparel and related products, while learning about design, product development, apparel construction, fashion sketching, textiles, computer technologies, pattern making, and draping.
Summer internship is an important component of this program in which students are required to participate. The internship provides students with industry experience in textiles and fashion-related fields.
Eligibility:
Intermediate or A level preferably with Fine Art subjects and minimum second division.
All the applicants will have to take Entry Test and Interview.
Applicants should have a portfolio.
Preference will be given to applicants having professional experience.
