National Diploma in Art and Design at Kingston College
This two year, full time course is designed to introduce you to the main areas of 2D and 3D Art and Design. It provides practical experience as well as enabling students to focus on specific subject areas in greater depth. The different disciplines include Graphic Design, Fine Art, Fashion, Textiles, 3D Design and Art. The course will also give students the opportunity to appreciate the work of other artists and designers and to learn about associated business and professional practice.
Entry Requirements
The minimum requirements are 4 GCSEs at grade C or above, First Diploma in Art and Design or a GNVQ Intermediate Award. A portfolio of art and design work is needed for your interview, which should demonstrate an awareness and enthusiasm for design. Prior learning or experience can be accredited. A successful interview and satisfactory reference are required.
International Entry Requirements:
High School Leaving Certificate at C grade or above or other related comparable qualifications. Portfolio of work, satisfactory reference. IELTS 5.0 or an equivalent English Language Certificate

Content
The course will give you a wide knowledge and understanding of art and design. Year 1 will give you an introduction to 2D and 3D art and design with the opportunity in year 2 to specialise in fine art, graphic design, 3D design, fashion, multimedia or photography.
The course is unit based and assessments are made throughout the course. Additional learning and pastoral support is provided through the tutorial system.
On successful completion you will gain a BTEC National Diploma in Art and Design graded pass, merit or distinction (Level 3). This is equivalent to 3 A
Why choose this course?
This 13-week course is designed to prepare international students for BA(Hons) study in art, design or architecture at Kingston University. It is ideal if you already have a focus in one major subject area and wish to consolidate your application to a BA course at Kingston University.
What will you study?
You can choose to focus on fashion design, graphic communication, 3D design or fine art, alongside English language or cultural studies.
On completion of the course (providing that you meet the academic and language targets), you will be able to progress to the relevant BA course of your choice
